The New Quick and Easy Ribbed Hat

It was time for the updated version of the fabulous Quick and Easy Ribbed Hat. I love the original for its speed, (the short time it takes to knit it), versatility (looks good on almost everyone) style (definitely, a cute hat) and its warmth (It's just perfect for a cold and windy day). But, I discovered, with a slightly different decrease, I could create another fashion statement, a chic new style that drew raves the minute I put it on. I completed it at the beginning of the Vogue Knitting Live this past weekend and it was the perfect head covering for a brutally cold winter day. And, it didn't suffocate me when I wore it indoors. Better yet, everyone seemed crazy about it. It's another really fast knit (barely two hours to complete with lots of distraction from some very enthusiastic fellow knitters) and I immediately fell in love. Like its predecessor, it's knit with just one skein of Misti Alpaca's Super Chunky 50/50 merino/alpaca,. Solid colors are in limited supply and available in just a couple of shades. Fortunately, I've stocked up on them and at just $12 a skein, this hat is a great buy. Should you wish to purchase the yarn, just contact me and I will be happy to send it out pronto. Special thanks to Tania for modeling. The pattern appears below:

Cute hat. Thanks for the pattern. Found it on Ravelry. Accidentally bought bulky yarn and have no idea what to do with it since I dont usually use that weight. Going to make a hat and scarf for my daughters teacher:)

THanks

I am so excited to find this pattern. I have never done a hat and was looking for a pattern whose instructions alone didn't confuse me. I actually think I can follow this one! I've only just done my first project in the round (a bulky cowl) and I've gotten so many compliments on it that I'm ready to try something a little more complicated. Oh, and I'm tired of my ears being cold because my current had isn't snug enough on my head! Thanks again for posting this pattern :)

When you said if hat doesn't measure approx 6" knit another row, do you mean knit 1 row or one more set of 5 rows. Or should I actually purl 1 more row? Cutest hat ever!
